Common Green Darner

This is the Common Green Darner Dragonfly, Anax junius, photographed at a wildlife area in western Riverside County, California. In this photograph, the female (on left) is ovipositing eggs in the water, and the male (right) is holding her in place, presumably to prevent any other males from interfering.
