photograph of two mountain peaks in the tushar mountains of utah. Golden and red aspen trees as well as a small waterfall are in the foreground.

The Tushar Mountains, a small mountain range in southern Utah, sit on the cusp between the Great Basin and Colorado Plateau. Large amounts of light-colored volcanic tuff (ash flow) from a volcanic event about 22-32 million years ago give the mountains a very light colored appearance that is striking against the bright and vibrant colors of autumn.
