Photo of the Cadiz Valley Sand Dunes at sunset; the sky is transitioning from pink to dark blue and the dunes are reflecting the light in the sky giving them a lovely golden color

Sunset on the Cadiz Dunes Wilderness in the desert of southern California. The Cadiz Dunes Wilderness is part of Mojave Trails National Monument, which encompasses parts of the Cadiz Valley, Sheephole Mountains, and Sheephole Valley, protecting valuable Mojave Desert resources.

The Cadiz Valley is also the site of the proposed and folly-ridden Cadiz Water Project, which would pump groundwater from the Valley to the Colorado River Aqueduct 43 miles to the south. You can read more about this project and my visit to the Cadiz Dunes on my blog here.
