Red Diamond Rattlesnake

Red diamond rattlesnakes (Crotalus ruber) are found in rocky hills and deserts in a small region of southern California. I personally think this is one of the most attractive species of rattlesnake, and although they are one of the largest species, I have only ever encountered individuals who are relatively mild-mannered. However, despite that, I still avoid snakes at almost all costs (call it one of my phobias), so I used a long lens to capture these shots. My phobia is also why you don't see many snake shots on my website...
