Together with my coauthors, PJ Johnson and Ann Whittaker, we are proud to announce the publication of our first ebook, An Honest Silence: A Celebration of Wilderness.

An Honest Silence is a mix of photography and short, intimate essays by each of the authors.  All three authors come from different backgrounds and hold different points of view, but what the book ultimately shows is that wilderness is a common thread in everyone’s life.  From the Colorado Plateau to the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota, the reader is taken on a personal journey through the wild.

David Leland Hyde, the son of pioneering color landscape photographer Philip Hyde, wrote the foreword.  David is working to perpetuate not only his father’s photographic legacy, but also the conservation ethic that his parents so strongly believed in.

What others are saying about An Honest Silence:

“…it’s fitting indeed that a modern book which urges us to see and appreciate the softer scenes of wilderness and take nothing for granted should return to the roots of environmental publishing, both stylistically and geographically.” — A. Jackson Frishman

“The essays by Greg Russell passionately connect you to the land through his eyes. The writings by PJ Johnson will make you think and provide a wake-up call regarding how we treat wilderness. Ann Whittaker’s lyrical prose will move you to see yourself more deeply through wilderness. All in all, An Honest Silence is an excellent read and will bring more meaning to your own experience of wilderness.” — David Leland Hyde

“If you’re a wilderness convert, let this eBook be your gentle reminder to get “out there”, and let it inspire you to create and share your own wilderness testaments.  If you’re not that convert, let An Honest Silence guide you to discovery (or rediscovery) of your own personal connection to this powerful force — wilderness.” — Wesley Picotte

The book is available for $5. Currently, we are offering it as a 48-page, 25.1MB, PDF download.
