pronghorn antelope, antilocapra americana

The pronghorn “antelope” (Antilocapra americana) is not really an antelope at all, but rather a member of the goat family.  It is also one of the fastest land mammals in the world, capable of reaching speeds of 70 miles per hour in short bursts.  They are prevalent in the grasslands of the west; this individual was on the high prairie of Wyoming.
