The Cedar Mesa area, located west of Blanding and north of Bluff, Utah is one of my favorite locations on the Colorado Plateau. The mesa is transected by many verdant canyons, such as Owl, Fish, Slickhorn and Grand Gulch, but is also home to what may be more archaeological sites than anywhere in the Southwestern United States. Multiple Ancestral Puebloan--Anasazi--sites are located here, which range from ruins of granaries or pictographs (pictured here) to perfect, intact kivas.
