Cholla cactus on a cloudy and stormy day in the desert

Cholla are one of the most notorious cacti of the Sonoran Desert because of their perceived ability to jump onto clothes and skin. Although they can’t really do this, the barbs on this particular species do catch on just about anything that gives them even the lightest touch, creating a painful experience for the casual passerby.
